With so many options available, it can be overwhelming to choose what to watch next. That's why I've compiled a list of some of my favorite TV shows, spanning different genres and styles, to help you find your next binge-worthy series. 1. Mysteries / Crime
• One of us is lying
"One of Us is Lying" is a television series based on the novel of the same name by Karen M. McManus. The show revolves around the death of a high school student, Simon, during detention, and the four other students who were with him at the time, who all become suspects in his murder. Each of them has a motive for wanting Simon dead, and as the investigation unfolds, secrets and lies are uncovered.
• Wednesday
"Wednesday" is a TV series created by Tim Burton for Netflix. It's a live-action coming-of-age about the iconic character Wednesday Addams, who is now a student at Nevermore Academy and solving supernatural mysteries.
• Elite
"Elite" is a TV series created by Carlos Montero and DarĂo Madrona. The show is set in Las Encinas, a prestigious private school in Spain, and follows the lives of three working-class students who have been awarded scholarships to attend the school after their previous school was destroyed by an earthquake.
• Control Z
"Control Z" is a teen drama television series that premiered on Netflix in 2020. The show follows the story of a high school student named Sofia, who is a social outcast and spends most of her time online. One day, a hacker starts to leak everyone's deepest and darkest secrets on social media, causing chaos and changing the lives of the students at her school.
• The Blacklist
"The Blacklist" is a popular American crime thriller television series that premiered on NBC in 2013. The show revolves around Raymond "Red" Reddington (played by James Spader), a former US Navy officer turned high-profile criminal who voluntarily surrenders to the FBI after evading capture for decades. Reddington offers to help the FBI apprehend some of the most dangerous criminals on his "blacklist" – a list of global criminals, terrorists, and other wanted fugitives who are unknown to the FBI.
• Dark Desire
"Dark Desire" is a thriller television series that premiered on Netflix in 2020. The show follows the story of Alma Solares (played by Maite Perroni), a successful lawyer and college professor who goes on a weekend getaway to her beach house with her husband and young son. However, her life takes a dramatic turn when she has a passionate and dangerous affair with a young man named Dario Guerra (played by Alejandro Speitzer) who is a student of hers.
2. Comedies
• Good Girls
"Good Girls" is a TV show that follows three suburban mothers, Beth, Ruby, and Annie, who find themselves in desperate need of money and turn to a life of crime by robbing a local grocery store. As the show progresses, they become increasingly involved in the criminal underworld and must navigate the challenges of balancing their illegal activities with their personal lives.
• Derry Girls
"Derry Girls" is a popular British television show set in the 1990s, which follows the lives of a group of teenagers from Derry, Northern Ireland. The show was created by Lisa McGee and premiered in 2018 on Channel 4 in the UK. It has since gained a global following on streaming services such as Netflix.
• Dead To Me
"Dead to Me" is a dark comedy-drama series that follows the story of Jen, a widow struggling to cope with the sudden death of her husband in a hit-and-run accident. In an effort to deal with her grief, she attends a support group where she meets Judy, a free-spirited woman who is also dealing with her own personal struggles.
As the two women form a deep bond, it becomes clear that there are many secrets between them, and the show takes on a thrilling and unpredictable edge.
• The Good Place
"The good place" follows the story of Eleanor Shellstrop, played by Kristen Bell, who wakes up in the afterlife and realizes that she has been mistakenly sent to "The Good Place" instead of "The Bad Place" due to a mix-up. She then tries to become a better person with the help of her assigned soulmate, Chidi, played by William Jackson Harper, and her new friends, Tahani, played by Jameela Jamil, and Jason, played by Manny Jacinto.
3. Dramas
• The Queen's Gambit
"The Queen's Gambit" follows the life of a young orphan named Beth Harmon, who discovers her extraordinary talent for chess while living in an orphanage. She becomes a prodigy and rises through the ranks of the chess world, facing various challenges along the way, including addiction and personal struggles.
• Bridgeton
"Bridgerton" is a historical drama television series that premiered on Netflix on December 25, 2020. The show is based on a series of novels by Julia Quinn and is set in Regency-era London, following the lives of the wealthy Bridgerton family and their interactions with the other aristocratic families in the city.
• The end of the ***ing world
"The End of the F***ing World" is a British television series based on the comic book series of the same name by Charles Forsman. The show follows two teenage outsiders, James and Alyssa, who embark on a road trip together, with James intending to murder Alyssa as he believes himself to be a psychopath.
• Outer Banks
The show is set in the Outer Banks of North Carolina and follows a group of teenagers called the "Pogues," who are on a mission to find a legendary treasure that is tied to the disappearance of the father of one of the main characters. Along the way, they encounter numerous obstacles, including rival gangs, corrupt businessmen, and dangerous storms.
• The Crown
"The Crown" is a historical drama television series produced by Netflix, which chronicles the reign of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom. The show covers the early years of Elizabeth's reign, starting with her marriage to Prince Philip in 1947, and follows her through major events in British history such as the Suez Crisis, the decolonization of Africa, and the rise of the Beatles.
• Inventing Anna
"Inventing Anna" is a Netflix limited series that premiered in February 2021. The show is based on the true story of Anna Sorokin, a Russian-born con artist who posed as a wealthy German heiress and conned her way into the New York City social elite.
